Inala is a suburb of the City of Brisbane (Forest Lake Ward) with a population of 15,273 at the 2021 Census (ABS), 22.1 km by road south-west of the Brisbane GPO.

The suburb has an unusually deep set of primary schools for its size: Inala State School, Serviceton South State School and Richlands East State School (all government primary, all with special education programs), Western Suburbs State Special School (Prep–Year 12), St Mark’s School (Catholic primary) and the Inala Flexible Learning Centre (Catholic secondary). There is no mainstream secondary school in Inala — the nearest government high schools are Glenala State High School in Durack and Forest Lake State High School in Forest Lake.

There is no railway station in Inala. Richlands station on the Springfield line is about 3 km from central Inala. The Inala bus station at Inala Plaza runs the frequent express route 100 to Woolloongabba busway station, South Bank and the city, and local buses connect to Richlands, Darra, Oxley, Salisbury, Moorooka and Coopers Plains stations.

The Inala Plaza and Civic Centre complex on the corner of Kittyhawk and Inala Avenues is the suburb’s town centre, with the Brisbane City Council Inala Library at the Civic Centre. Inala also has direct access to the Ipswich, Centenary and Logan motorways.

Homes like these are sold on strata or community title: you own your home and share ownership of the common property with the other owners through a body corporate, which charges regular levies for insurance, maintenance and shared services. While a development is still being built, homes are usually sold off the plan — a deposit is paid when the contract is signed, and settlement happens once construction is finished and the titles are created.
