About West End

West End is an inner suburb of the City of Brisbane, 2.9 km south-west of the CBD, with a population of 14,730 at the 2021 Census (ABS). It sits inside a bend of the Brisbane River, which is why so much of the suburb is within walking distance of the water.

Boundary Street is the suburb’s shopping and dining strip, and the West End markets at Davies Park run every Saturday morning with more than 150 vendors. Davies Park is also the home ground of the Souths Logan Magpies and the West End Football Club, and the Brisbane City Council West End Library is on Boundary Street.

There is no railway or busway station inside West End. The West End CityCat wharf on Orleigh Street is in the suburb, and the nearest rail and busway stations — South Brisbane, South Bank, Cultural Centre — are in neighbouring South Brisbane. The CityGlider runs along Montague Road and several bus routes connect the suburb to the city and the University of Queensland.

West End State School (government primary, Prep–Year 6) is on Vulture Street in the suburb. There is no secondary school in West End; the nearest government secondary school is Brisbane State High School in neighbouring South Brisbane.

How buying in a new development works

Homes like these are sold on strata or community title: you own your home and share ownership of the common property with the other owners through a body corporate, which charges regular levies for insurance, maintenance and shared services. While a development is still being built, homes are usually sold off the plan — a deposit is paid when the contract is signed, and settlement happens once construction is finished and the titles are created.

Ask us for the disclosure documents, the body corporate budget and the plan for any home you are considering, and we will go through them with you before you sign anything.
