About Yeronga

Yeronga is a suburb of the City of Brisbane, 8.3 km south of the CBD, with a population of 7,062 at the 2021 Census (ABS). It is bounded by the Brisbane River to the west and north and by Ipswich Road to the south-east.

Yeronga railway station is in the suburb, on the Beenleigh line. It was rebuilt under Cross River Rail and reopened in March 2022 with lifts and a footbridge over Fairfield Road, which is the practical difference between a station you can use with a pram or luggage and one you cannot.

Three schools are inside the suburb: Yeronga State School (government primary), Yeronga State High School (government secondary, an Independent Public School) and St Sebastian’s Primary School (Catholic). Having both a state primary and a state high school in the same suburb is not common this close to the city.

Yeronga Memorial Park covers 22.46 hectares and is on the Queensland Heritage Register. It holds the Honour Avenue and memorial pavilion from just after the First World War, the heated Yeronga Park Pool complex, tennis courts, bowling greens and sports ovals. Local shops are on Fairfield Road opposite the station, and Fairfield Gardens (Coles and Aldi) is in the adjoining suburb of Fairfield.

How buying in a new development works

Homes like these are sold on strata or community title: you own your home and share ownership of the common property with the other owners through a body corporate, which charges regular levies for insurance, maintenance and shared services. While a development is still being built, homes are usually sold off the plan — a deposit is paid when the contract is signed, and settlement happens once construction is finished and the titles are created.

Ask us for the disclosure documents, the body corporate budget and the plan for any home you are considering, and we will go through them with you before you sign anything.
