Kangaroo Point is a suburb of the City of Brisbane in The Gabba Ward, postcode 4169, about 3.8 km south-east of the CBD. It recorded a population of 9,689 at the 2021 Census (ABS).
Schools and getting around
St Joseph’s Primary School, a Catholic school for Prep to Year 6, is in the suburb at Leopard Street. There are no state schools inside Kangaroo Point; the nearest state primary school is East Brisbane State School and the nearest state high school is Coorparoo Secondary College.
There is no train station in the suburb. Holman Street and Dockside ferry terminals are both at Kangaroo Point, served by the CityHopper and the Kangaroo Point Cross River Ferry.
The Kangaroo Point Bridge, which Brisbane City Council also calls the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, opened on 15 December 2024. It runs about 460 m from Scott Street at Kangaroo Point to the Alice Street and Edward Street intersection in the CBD, and carries pedestrians and cyclists only.
